Strange NAT problem

I am running Servicedesk plus on a linux VM.
I had a firewall forwarding the port 8080 to the private IP. This was working perfectly.
Today the firewall crashed, so I changed the gateway settings on the service desk server to point to a secondary firewall, redirected the ports there, but it doesn't work.
I can redirect any other port successfully (such as ssh, apache, etc), but the servicedesk application itself doesn't work any more through the new NAT router.
Any ideas?
