Status Change - Requester Responds to Closed or Resolved Request

Status Change - Requester Responds to Closed or Resolved Request

As of now when a user responds to a closed or resolved request it goes back to a "New" status.  We have a status that we like to use called "Responded".  How do we change the system to use the "Responded" status instead of marking the request as the "New" status?
