smtp - cannot query any devices? pls help

hi guys,

ive recently been asked to configure our opsmanager6 to monitor windows services on various local windows2003 servers we have.

after reading the opsmanager manual and trying to setup the servers smtp service & setting up the server on opsmanager I have hit a brick wall.

I have added the server on opsmanager and added the required smtp passwords etc but whenever i click on "windows service monitor" and click on the link to auto scan for running services on the server, it comes back with "access denied".

I have just downloaded oputils4 to see if any of the snmp tools would help me. I am trying to add a single device, but i get "E2001: No response to SNMP queries - 172.16.1.5".

i am presuming from the msg that i havent setup snmp correctly on the server? but i think i have, are there any quick guides anywhere to show how we setup a server so that opsmanager can communicate with it?
