SMS-Function is useless like this!

SMS-Function is useless like this!

Hi Folks

I like to report a bug, if you want to call it like that.

We are using OpManager 7.1 for monitoring our network. Its very important that when something is wrong with our network, we get a message as soon as possible!
Adventnet OpManager 7.1 has a cool feature which sends an SMS in a case of an emergency.
But the problem is this function is not thought through! Here is why:

Our OpManager installation:
OpManager 7.1
Build: 7102
Database: On external MSSQL Server

The Problem:
Last weekend, we had a breakdown of our whole network. And it didnt recover itself. We got no e-mail from OpManager. Thats ok, because OpManager had no connection to the internet. BUT: We got also no sms. And this should still work also when the hole network is down. Shouldnt it? Because if it wouldnt, the whole SMS-function is a joke. Unfortunately it is. Because if OpManager has no more connection to its DB, OpManager cant send any alert!

My advice:
Why didnt you implement a function which is testing sequentially the connection to the DB? As soon as the DB isnt accessible, OpManager sends an alert over E-mail and if the internet is not present it sends an alert over SMS.

Thanks for your fast replay.
Regards
Sandro
