Skipping Database backup during upgrade
I am upgrading our service desk to the latest version and because of this I used the -DSkipForcedBackUp_13000=true but when running the upgrade it still prompted me to back up the database and I had to cancel out as it would take 15 hours per patch and I had 3 patches to apply. I opened a ticket to find out if my update.bat file was correct with my modifications and why it wasn't skipping the backup. I got this as a reply:
"The parameter provided in the
updmgr.bat file is correct. From the 14 series when you skip
back up it will show a prompt to take backup when you click on Yes the backup
will be skipped based on the parameter provided".
I replied with:
Why
would this have changed? In past updates it told you that you were skipping the
backup. In future releases how are we to know that adding the skip backup
command actually works?
Has anyone else had to deal with this? Does this make sense to anyone?
