Service Pack 1 for Desktop Central 6 Released

We are pleased to announce the Service Pack 1 release of Desktop Central 6. You can download the SP1 from the given URL.

Instructions to Apply Service Pack 1 :

1. Shut down Desktop Central. (either through Start -> Programs -> Desktop Central -> Stop Desktop Central (or) Right click Desktop Central logo on the Notification area of Task bar and click Shut down Server)
2. Take backup of the <DesktopCentral_Server>\MySql\data directory
3. Execute the UpdateManager.bat file present in the <DesktopCentral_Server>\bin directory.
4. Click "Browse" and select the service pack (.ppm) file that you have downloaded.
5. Click "Install" to install the service pack . This may take few minutes depending on the amount of data that needs to be migrated.
6. Wait until the serice pack is fully installed.
7. Click "Close" and then click "Exit" to exit the Update Manager tool.
8. Execute the stopdb.bat present in the <DesktopCentral_Server>\bin directory.
9. Start the Desktop Central now to work.









The Service Pack 1 also has the agent side upgrades. Each client computer's agent will contact the MEDC server within 90 minutes and upgrade the agent automatically.

Feature Enhancements

1. Scheduled installation is added in Patch deployment configuration
2. Disconnecting a particular network drive is introduced in the drive mapping configuration.
3. Provision added to delete an already defined message box through message box configuration.
4. In software deployment, environment variable support is added for the network paths, pre, post installation scripts. Eg: %ProgramFiles% --> C:\Program Files
5. Provision is given to delete a domain from SoM page.
6. Option added to apply configurations on every logon/bootup.
7. User interface of Security Policies Configuration has been revamped.
8. Automatic detection of Windows Firewall and adding necessary exceptions (required for Desktop Central server) is handled.
9. Overall usability has been improved.










Bug Fixes

1. Issues in creating custom groups have been fixed.
2. Issue in Scheduled software deployment is fixed.
3. Issue in "Hide from Explorer" in drive mapping configuration is fixed.
4. Log levels for writing system event logs from Desktop Central Agent is made as configurable.
5. Getting "RPC Server unavailable" error on remote agent installation has been fixed.
6. Tray icon related issues in Vista systems have been fixed.
7. Issues related to scheduled patch deployment have been fixed.
8. Issues in sending email notifications of scheduled scan and scheduled patch deployment have been fixed.
