Hi
We are deploying SDP in our environment and support a number of customers over many hundreds of sites. We initially used SDP for the asset management functionality and lifecycle, however we are looking at making more use of the product.
We are required to produce a service catalog for our customers, in effect an online portal where by a customer could request a laptop, piece of software, iPad etc. select from a limited number of configuration options and we would then action. It seems that the current service catalog provides some of this functionality and I'm sure we could use workflow to pass through authorisation, our own supplies team and ultimatly to the techie reciving the kit, building and deploying to the customer.
However the service catalog request from doesn't look customer focused and is confusing, it also doesn't seem to allow us to add useful pictures and link to prices, effectively we need something more like a web shopping cart we have all become used to (including our customers). I also can't see any obvious way of this linking into the PO module for complete record of events.
Could you please advise if it is possible to create a more freindly Service Catalog complete with costs/totals based upon options selected. Or if there are any plans to do so (in a reasonable time frame) as otherwise we will have to take this out of SDP and develop something inhouse or play about with one of the many open source shopping carts to hold our service catalog...
If anyone else is using SDP and has found any work arounds aor is linking to other systems to provide this essential customer service I would welcome any thoughts...
Cheers
Mike
