SelfService erasing User logon name off AD for users

I've gone through the forum and have not seen this issue mentioned but I wanted to take the time to bring it up since I think it's a critical one. We've configured ADSelfService for users to be able to update their general information with nothing pertaining to the domain such as User logon, exchange attributes, etc. It's been working great until we had a user call us that he couldn't get on our VPN. It seems whenever someone attempts to use the Reset Your Password feature their User Logon name and the domain name next to it are blanked out. This then causes conflicts with a bunch of software we use that tries to authentic back to AD. Is this being seen by anyone else? We've gone through the settings in SelfService but nothing there indicates that it'll have this kind of behavior on people's accounts. Any help on this is appreciated, thanks!
