Unless ive missed it, there seems to be no easy way to find a users assets?

Yes, you can open a previous ticket - and then link to assets. but thats a rather long way around. (As is the reporting)

Is there no view where the user is core  (central) - and the related entities are viewable/reachable from there? I simply search for the user and view things from there?
