SDP 7.22 How to change ProductType ?
I have been reading SDP forum since April 2008. And as I thought in accordance with talks about rules of asset licensing I should license only assets with IP-adresses that could be discovered in my network after scanning. Before we bought SDP with 250 nodes license I had asked about licensing rules our seller (AdventNet partner) and got the same answer that only asset with IPaddress should be licensed as node.
After we installed SDP some time all were OK. We added in "Printers" section of IT-Assets (import from CSV) 55 LPT and USВ printers (only 4 network printers were previously there discovered automatically after network scanning), assign it to users . But 2 weeks ago when new workstations were added into our network I got the message about exceeding licensed number of assets (250).
I was really surprised so far as I know that we have less than 250 assets with IP-addresses in local network. Eventually I found out that ALL asset placed (even manually) in sections like "Printers", "Workstations" and so on in group of "IT-ASSETS" are counted like nodes and should be licensed. It was really sad discovery.
Please, answer how to change ProductType for local USB and LPT printers from "Printers" to, for example, new type "LocalPrinters" that placed in "NON-IT Assets" group. I want to save history of these printers and user distribution. We spent a lot of time to input. We will lost these data and time in case of simple deletion and re-entering printers in SDP with new ProductType.
