SD+ 6.0 - Request templates...
I like the idea of request templates, and I see some great value. However, currently, I see at least one limitation.
We are currently limited to 12 additional fields for requests, and are limited to the 3 types of fields (single-line), Multi-line, & Pick list. I would like to see checkbox, radio, and text-line added; however, with this, I see a need to be able to customize the ...
Scenario: New Employee
1. HR creates request with important employee data:
- Name (first, last, middle)
- SSN
- Start date
- Title
- Department
- Manager
- Location
2. IT manually creates AD user account with above information
- It would be nice if we had the ability to start a wizard (from within SD+) to create the new AD account from the above information. We would require a way to manually map SD+ fields to AD fields.
- Updates request with additional account information
- Email address
- Etc...
- Assign request to Finance
3. Finance
4. Facilities
5. Etc...
I see a potential workflow application here, that can be used for virtually any helpdesk type request...
I also see a couple of potential issues:
1. The need for additional security (finance & HR data would need to be hidden from various technicians/groups)
2. Ability to allow for form layout customization (easily)
I have attached a document that has screen shots of a Personnel Action Form, that we use when a new employee is hired (for reference)... Who knows, maybe this is a new product that SD+ can be used to initiate?
