In our business we have about 14 offices. Each office has its own domain, on its own subnet (192.168.1.x, 192.168.2.x, etc.). We have vpn tunnels linking each office to HQ where ServiceDesk is hosted and have routes to each office in place in place. Each Domain is named SCA, SCABN, SCACT. etc.
If add a domain to ServiceDesk thats at a remote office and scan it everything is fine, it picks up all machines that are online. Service desk uses IP addresses to perform this scan. Once these machines are added if i go to an individual machine and do a "scan now" it fails. This is because this scan uses the workstations computer name rather than its IP.
If I add the SCABN.local or SCACT.local suffix or whatever domain the machine is joined to, to the machines computer in service desk it scans fine. This is annoying though as i will have to manually add this to scanned workstations & servers.
I have had to add DNS forwarding rules on all DNS Servers to allow this aswell
Why can't ServiceDesk add the full Computer name including the domain suffix on the initial domain scan? Can this be included?
Or why can't it use the IP address when you hit "scan now" rather than computer name?
I am sure that anyone else using this product who has more than one domain will be experiencing the same issue.
Why have the function to add more than 1 domain if you have this problem? :?:
