I am currently testing SD+ 7.6 and it seems to have fixed problems relating scanning Mac OS X machines. While SD+ is now able to scan hardware and software info, it seems to leave out very important peace of information: System Serial Number. Without the S/N, there is now way to link the scanned machine to the machines already in SD+ (created manually or imported via CSV).

If there is an asset with the same workstation name, SD does assume that it is the same machine. Our workstation name include user name and some standard tails so this is a problem. E.g. If we assign a workstation to another user (change the workstation name), and scan it, SD+ would create a new entry with the old name. We would end up with double entries with no S/N. User and workstation names come & go. The primary identifier should really be the S/N. And in my understanding, this should be the case. Even though it doesn't work e.g. in CSV imports.

I have tested this with SD 7602 (Network scan, Local Credentials(SSH)) and couple of Macbook Pro's with OS X 10.5.8 installed.

Has anybody else run into this problem?
