Scanning Assets - Network Scan
Hi,
We run a large 2003 Active Directory LAN with mixed clients, mostly XP PC/Laptops and IP Network printers. I have installed the 30 day demo of Service Desk Plus and love the interface and features but can't get the Network scan to scan all our PC's. The domain scan worked but didn't find printers and all our PC's so it is important to get the network scan to complete our inventory.
I see that other users have requested a client scanning agent be developed and i also agree this is needed as it seems there are many issues with getting the WMI to scan complex LAN/WAN environments properly.
in the meantime what else can i do to fix the scan problems ?
the instructions say this which i have checked and both are turned on
WMI needs to be enabled in the workstation where the ServiceDesk server is running.
COM/DCOM service needs to be switched on in all the workstations belonging to the windows domains.
the network log errors mostly show these two errors
/172.16.19.123 : Either access denied for the user or the remote DCOM option might be disabled in the workstation.
No response received from workstation. Probably the workstation might be switched off or does not exist.
any help appreciated as we really want to use this wonderful application.
