I'm banging my head against the Software Assets portion of ServiceDesk. I'm honestly not liking it due to menu navigation and inconsistencies of the data it reports. But below are some of my issues I'm having at the moment.
Problem 1. In ServiceDesk Plus I go to Assets - Software - Scanned Software and then search for a certain program. Lets say AutoCAD 2018. I'll find it, it'll say it's installed on 8 computers. But when I click on it and go to the Installations Tab to see what computers it's on, the list is empty.
Problem 2. I'll use AutoCAD 2018 again as my example. When I search for it I get multiple entries.
- AutoCAD 2018 - English
- Autodesk BIM 360 AutoCAD 2018
- AutoCAD 2018
- AutoCAD 2018 Language Pack - English
- Autodesk AutoCAD 2018 - English
It's just all over the place. And they all have different amounts for the numbers of computers they are installed on. The issue is if I click on one to see the computers, there is no option to go back to the list I was just looking at. I have to do another search for "AutoCAD 2018" again. And I can't do "open in new tab" because that doesn't work in SDP for a lot of the asset stuff.
Problem 3. I've tested this before months ago, but it no longer works. I looked up a scanned software that is on my own computer. I know it's on my computer as I use it every day. I wanted to double-check that if I remove it from the scanned software list, that it will repopulate once the computer is scanned. As I said I've tested this before and it did work at the time. Today, I removed the software from the scanned list, and did an asset scan of my computer. Multiple times. It did not repopulate that particular piece of software even though it's still on my machine.
Problem 4. Unable to edit Software Suites. An intern of all people was assigned to start populating our software licences before I was able to get into it and determine how it works. He created some software suites that had about 100 or so individual software components in it. I had to remove each component 1 at a time just so I could delete the software suite he made.
I'm sure I have other issues. But these are ones I found out about just from today.
