Rogue Port Dection and switch port mapper

With an environment of Cisco 79xx VOIP phones linked to other devices via the phones inbuilt network port, the software alerts a new device has been found. The software can link the phone being connected to a specific switch and port, however the 2nd device such as the laptop or desktop connected to the phone is unavailable and can only list which switches it has traversed.

Can this information be displayed, otherwise the software is not much use in this regard, or are we doing something wrong.

Is it possible to tell the software where the MAC of the device is seen on the same switchport connecting the phone it can assume its also directly connected to the switch?

This must be a common requirement to identify what devices are linked to ports, and will become more and more widespread.
