I am trying to install software that requires the previous version be uninstalled before installing the new version.

I can uninstall the previous version with a custom script in the pre-deployment activities section. No problem there. However, once the custom script is finished, the computer must restart before it can install the new version. I tried using a custom script with 'shutdown /f /r /t 0, but the install failed saying "The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed." (I think this is because the service was shutting down from the shutdown command when Desktop Central started to install the software.)

How can I restart the computer after uninstalling the previous version of software as a pre-deployment activity?
