Requests view column "Total Cost" - how does this populate?

Requests view column "Total Cost" - how does this populate?

We have recently been experimenting with the cost per hour for technicians. While I can see how it applies to work logs, there's one spot that doesn't seem to be getting updated. In the Requests view it is possible to add a column titled "Total Cost", but the value seems to always be $0.

Is there some additional step that needs to be taken, to get work log costs to appear there?
