Enhancement request:


What I always miss looking at network management systems is the ability to rate alarms by there impact to business functionality and affected users.

Let me give an Example.

I receive an alarm that the server �xwz� is down, this is nice, but only a small number of people from the IT department know that this server is the print server for the warehouse and no delivery notes can be printed, witch has a large impact to the business.

Or:

An alarm is saying that the port 25 of one switch is down, knowing that that is the uplink port to the switch of the automatic scale for warehouse receipts, would speed up the support team.

Or:

The monitored print service of a server is down, it would to more interesting to know that now 75 % of the users are not able to print.

This list can be enhanced to any desired number.

I have tried to use the alarm escalation functionality of OpManager to do this but I am limited to configure sophisticated escalation procedures by for example the ability to chose only infrastructure views. Also I can not add additional information�s to devices explaining there role in the business process and or the number of users affected in the case of a problem.


The ability to configure OpManager with additional information�s about the business criticality and the number of users affected would add a tremendous value to the product.
