Remcom.exe flagged as malicious
Hi,
Just tried to upgrade from 8.5.0.0 to 8.5.1.0 and our virusscanner (McAfee) is intercepting the remcom.exe file in the upgrade ppm-file as it thinks it is malicious (Windows Remote Installer). Same problem as described in
https://pitstop.manageengine.com/portal/en/community/topic/remcom-exe-flagged-as-malicious.
Talked with support and got as solution to exclude the update-folder from the virus-scanner, which is not always allowed in all companies. I made the same suggestion as above: to at least sign the file, so the virus scanners will not mark it as malicious.
Was not easy to detect this error, as I could download the file without problem to my workstation (running defender), but once I copied it to the server, the update-manager told me that the file was tampered with and i needed to re-download the file. After some testing I noticed that the file-size was changing each time I tried to upload the file to the server and I suspected the virusscanner of interfering with the copy-operation (it effectively removed the remcom.exe file out of the ppm-file and replaced it with a warning)
I hope this can help others with the same problem
Kind regards,
Bertin
