re: Removing and Adding a Technician - Administrator :(

Sorry, but after 5 attempts over 2 hours to get this reply posted, I'll just create a new topic and refer back to the original post: http://forums.manageengine.com/forumHome.do?forumGroupId=49000000002007&forumTopicId=49000002670753&

Hi,

You can do this easily. However you cannot login as administrator and edit the administrator account. Let us assume your Domain administrator is John Doe.

Follow these steps

1. make one of your existing technician accounts an SDAdmin.(Give them SDAdmin role)

2. Logout and login as this technician.

3. Edit the default administrator account and give the actual user's login(John Doe) and save.

4. Log out and login as John Doe.

5. Remove SDAdmin role for the technician.

Let me know if this worked.

Cheers

With this method, won't there essentially be 2 user accounts for the technician now? User1 with id = 'xyz' in the aaauser table. User2 with id = '3' (default administrator id) in the aaauser and helpdeskcrew table? Also, as this is an AD account, would any password changes (required every x days) follow the edited-administrator account listed as a technician or would it tie to the requester account? - my guess is the latter.

Instead of this, is it possible/safe to remove the administrator account (id = 3) completely from the helpdeskcrew table provided I have another SDAdmin user (using the bjm method: http://forums.manageengine.com/forumHome.do?forumGroupId=49000000002007&forumTopicId=49000002670209&) and add the actual user from the requester list?
