Quick question regarding remote probes

Quick question regarding remote probes

Hi There,

Great product, it has already started to save us alot of time that we used to spend manually checking our clients servers.

I have noticed if there is ever a problem reaching the central server, the probes will keep trying to reconnect but will eventually fail and the probe services will stop. This could be from us doing maintenance on central or network issues etc.

The question I have is this, if the connection to the central server breaks will the probes continue collecting data and then pass this information back when the connection is restored? How long can they do this for before they run into problems and the services stop? You log into the probe server and the OpManager splash screen will be stuck on "verifying connection with central"

Ideally I would like to be able to take the central down at regular intervals for backup purposes but I am concerned if I leave these services down too long it will cause problems in the probes. Can you please explain how this process works and is it possible to configure them to never attempt restart the services and just keep collecting data?

Last question, the dashboard on the central server has a nice view sorted by customer with alarms in different columns. I would like to have this on a large LCD display but we have too many customers and they don't all fit without having to scroll. Can this area be made larger? Is it possible to make custom dashboards? I had a look at business views but this seemed to be for making maps.

Just to be clear its under the central console Home >> Dashboard >> Customers "by severity"

Thanks Alot
Laurence
