Questions and requests regarding b7410
Good day,
We've updated our Applications Manager servers to b7410 two days ago. So far, so good and thanks for all the new features!
We have a few questions and requests that we would like you to answer or comment about.
We are running b7410 on Linux CentOS 4.4 and on Linux RedHat ES4.
QUESTIONS :
1) From time to time, the "Support>View Monitor Error" page reports: "Authentication failed. Kindly check user and password". This is for server monitors. The user and password are correct. This happens only on heavily loaded servers, so we think it might be because of a timeout problem. Is there a way to set the timeout used by the ssh connections for Server monitoring?
2) After upgrading, sometimes the Load Factor goes to 8.2! We don't recall observing that in the previous release. After a few minutes, the Load Factor might go down to 4.2 and then to 0.2 for a while. After a few minutes, we're back to 8.2. Is this normal?
3) After upgrading, all the customization we did with you guys on the config files are lost. Fortunately, we'd backed up some key files and re-made the modifications. Could you please tell us if what we did is ok and if we missed something?
startApplicationManager.sh :
-Xmx512m
threads.conf :
statuspoll 5
URLMonitor 10
my.ini :
set-variable = key_buffer=256M
set-variable = sort_buffer_size=32M
set-variable = myisam_sort_buffer_size=32M
# MySQL tunning
set-variable = query_cache_size=128M
set-variable = query_cache_limit=1M
set-variable = query_cache_type=1
set-variable = max_tmp_tables=128
set-variable = thread_cache_size=16M
set-variable = tmp_table_size=64M
set-variable = max_connections=100
set-variable = max_user_connections=100
set-variable = join_buffer_size=4M
open-files=2048
4) Could you please explain those new parameters in AMServer.properties?
am.rawdata.enabled=false
am.startmonthread.enabled=false
am.sendmonerrormail.enabled=false
am.senddcstoppedmail.enabled=false
NEW FEATURE / ENHANCEMENT REQUESTS (in order of priority for us) :
1) Thanks for the "Support>View Monitor Errors" page! But the Service Monitors and JRE Monitors are missing! Could you please add them.
2) Add an "Update" or "Refresh" link on the left pane to update, refresh or force-reload the current view (there was a bug were sometimes the Group' Status doesn't correspond to the Monitors in that Group)
3) Add the fieald "Monitors' Status" for Sub Groups (missing!)
4) Remove the limitation of not having two Sub Groups with the same name (i.e. New York->Applications and Paris-> Applications is not allowed)
5) Add a Description, Note or Comment field to Monitors and lengthen the Description field of Groups
6) The Response Time graph for Server monitors has been removed. It was useful to us. Could you please put it back.
7) Add the ability to manipulate Groups, like adding an existing Group as a Sub Group to another Group, thus creating views without having to recreate everything again.
8) Add a shorter timeout for the Forums section in the Support panel. Sometimes when AdventNet forums server is busy or down, the page takes very long time to load.
9) Add an option in the Admin panel to set the TimeZone (without having to specify it in startApplicationsManager.sh after applying a new service pack)
10) When launching startApplicationsManager.sh, there is still a message saying "WARNING : There is insufficient hard disk space". This is a bug, because there is plenty of free GBytes on the filesystems. This bug was also in the previous build (from 7300 and upward if I remember correctly). Could you please correct this please.
Thanks and best regards,
Pierre
