Questions about installing SDP6
I have recently joined a new compnay using Service Desk Plus 5.5.0 Build 5004 and have been told to upgrade to version 6. Now this creates a few problems as i have no idea how the sdp was setup in the first place. I have downloaded and scanned through the admin guide pdf available and have tried to install sdp 6 on a virtual workstation to test if it works from a clean install.
Reading the forum i get the impression that i need to upgrade to build 5507 before going to version 6 but am unsure so i did what all techies do when they dont know call the supplier for support. so i called the toll free number and got through to a lovely indian guy who hadnt a clue what i was talking about and i could hardly speak a word of english.
with that i am back here hoping to find the answer to a few questions.
When i installed sdp6 it offered me the choice of mssql or my sql, we currently use mysql as its free so do we need to change it? as i see that some of the instructions say we need to convert the database using a batch file changedbserver.bat
do i need to upgrade the service desk to build 5507 before going to 6?
