Greetings, I've read the following document but still have some questions about Driver Repositories.
Automatic Repository;
So far it's looking like drivers have only been automatically picked up from one of my systems (perhaps the deploy central sever itself?)
I've had a couple of dell systems left on for an extended period of time and have not seen any drivers scraped off of them which leads to the questions.
- When are drivers collected from a system when automatic driver management is enabled, is it during their normal agent heartbeat interval, or is there a different cycle it's done during?
- Are the drivers uploaded to the deploy central server, via the agent or do the agent managed systems attempt to directly access and then upload the driver files to the repository's SMB share using the configured credentials?
Manual Repository:
At glance it looks like the drivers repositories might use a "Driver Pool" model, which means that drivers will be installed on a first match basis. That can be problematic, especially with drivers that have multiple hardware/inf components such as AMD/NVIDIA video cards and their corresponding HDMI audio interface.
Is there a way to control which drivers a system model receives?
With MDT as well as some other deployment mechanisms drivers can be configured in an OS\MAKE\Model\Architecture fashion, where one would download and then extract the dell driver cabs into a directory matching that naming structure.
Is there a way to control which specific drivers a system receives via desktop central?
