I am having some problems with some machines updating correctly.
I have followed the FAQ and knowledge base articles about getting updates to run but on these systems I just cannot.
the current process to get things to install immediatelly is for instance, I have a group of machines, I setup an update task to roll out some windows updates. I run GPUPDATE to hasten the process. for most of my machines this does not work.
is there any other way to speed up this process. sometimes I have to let a machine sit for hours before it will start to pull down updates via DC.
Can some explain to me how long I need to wait and what the process is that DC uses to roll out said updates and how long that process should take. I am just frustrated. we moved away from Windows Update services because desktop central offered us more of what we were looking for as far as inventory, remote control, patch management all in one place. At this point I feel its a waist of money.
I dont want a support call to look at individual machines, there are far to many to take one on one. I just want to hear what to expect with rolling out updates. Maybe my expectations are off the wall, maybe not. After I get a good explanation about the "real" capabilities then I can make some plans to tackle individual issues I have with each machine. Unfortunately I am stuck with DC so I have to make it work.
this is not a flame job or anything like that I just want to get all my ducks in a row. We use Service Desk Plus and its a great product.
