enabling location on android

Hello,

This is my first post so I am not sure I am posting in the right section.

I have successfully installed some Motorola devices under a free on-premise installation of MDM Plus. Everything is working fine except the location of the devices.

Under Profile → Restrictions → Location Settings, I saw "Always Off" applied on the device, while the other two related options were enabled. When I opened the setting to edit it, the dropdown already showed "Always On" selected — but saving did not change the "Always Off" label shown in the profile view, and the location toggle stayed disabled on the phone.

I then tried "User Controlled": this allowed the phone to toggle location on, but the toggle was locked to "When in use" and I could not select "Always On" from the MDM app itself.

I then set the profile back to "Always On" — location on the phone went back to disabled/locked with no way to toggle it, and the profile label reverted to "Always Off".

To complete the test, I tried setting the profile dropdown to "Off" instead, and this actually enabled location tracking correctly on the devices. This suggests the "Always On" / "Off" labels in this setting may be inverted, or that the restriction logic works opposite to what the label implies (i.e. the setting describes whether the restriction blocking location is active, not the desired location state).

Could you confirm whether this is a known issue/labeling bug, and whether it's safe to keep using "Always Off" as the working configuration going forward, or if there's a proper setting elsewhere I should be using instead?

In the Geo-Tracking page under Inventory, everything shows as enabled.

Device details: fully managed Kiosk mode, Android 16, MDM app version 26.06.04.

Thank you!
