Sorry to bother you about a pre-official-release product, but whilst getting a taste, feel and testing of the new version, a couple of things have crossed my mind and wondered if your able to clear them up already.... before it's release. Would be really helpful too us...
1) Our scanned inventory of workstations seemed to have gained extra info tagged onto them.
Where as our PCs used to be called:
B1F165-15, B1F165-16, .... (Barn 1, First Floor, Room 165 - PC No 15... and so on)
They now come up as:
B1F165-15.(domain).local B1F165-16.(domain).local
Is there anyway to remove the .(domain).local from all scans?
2) Was informed this version can now automatically scan for Printers, yet in our tests so far none are found...? Are we doing something wrong, is there a special way to scan for them automatically. Or is this feature not currently working/available in the beta version at mo?
3) I see it has support for PDA's in Assets, can it scan and grab all the info for these devices too automatically, providing it has an IP? Or do we have to add these manually into SDP
4) Same for Access Points (WAPS) are these supported, detected automatically, or do we have to enter these manually...? If they are detected auto, is there a special way or just a Domain Scan...?
5) Is there a way to open/scan the AD and pick out single users to add...? (writing this at home, so cant check current beta) But with 6.0, you have to select the whole OU folder. Which if you dont have a tidy/sorted AD, it will pick up loads of old and out of date users that you will have to delete again. I tried exporting the users to a CSV file, and although it said it added them. I couldnd find them in the Requesters, they just disappeared, yet the total was going up.
Really looking forward to the release, the current version is AMAZING!!!! Really really well developed. Even the small touches make it great.
