I am patching Windows SQL servers.
I have found that the SQL patches released by Microsoft do not install successfully in the same install sessions as the OS updates.
OS updates will install, SQL update will fail.
After the post-update reboot, the SQL updates will successfully install.
My DBA advises that this is a common issue with SQL updates and OS updates.
We're implementing Patch Manager and I want to know how I can configure Automated Patch Deployment to run two back to back update sessions, the first for the OS updates, then a second to allow the SQL update to install successfully.
Happy to explain or clarify if my question isn't clear.
Thanks
