Patch Severity Rating appear to have recently changes

Microsoft products used to be the primary patches that had severity ratings.  Java has showed up for a long time as Critical.

Patches for products such as Chrome or FF used to be unrated.

I now see that these patches are now rated.  For example, Update for Google Chrome (40.0.2214.93)  ,  Update for Skype (7.0.0.102), Update for Mozilla Firefox (35.0.1)    are now rated as Critical.

For several years, we have been carefully recording and tracking PC "healthy" with the Highly Vulnerable PCs defined as ones missing 1 or more "critical" patches.  This recent change in the ratings of patches has changed the reference point for our tracking and makes interpretation of the data and trends difficult.

What can I do to change the severity rating for a patch such as the Chrome Patch listed above or will I have to accept the ratings?
