Why partial support for IE 11 browser?

In ServiceDesk Plus, we always strive to provide the best customer experience, with enhanced security and swift web-based platform. To achieve this, we have decided to provide partial support for IE 11 browser, based on the following considerations.

  • Limitation in development: Since the introduction of Microsoft Edge in 2015, Internet Explorer 11 has not received any major updates to meet newer web standards. Only security updates are provided. This means some new UI functionalities or features won't work on Internet Explorer.

  • Security Issues: Internet Explorer does not support the latest version of TLS nor CSP which can pose serious security threats.

  • Performance Issues: Still IE use older architecture compared to other browsers like Chrome and Firefox, hence ServiceDesk Plus had to develop old school codes for IE based add-ons and plugins, this impacts the application performance on IE browsers.

  • Microsoft discourages IEMicrosoft discourages the use of Internet Explorer as your default browser and favors Microsoft Edge instead. According to Microsoft, Internet Explorer is just a component of Windows provided as a compatibility solution.

* In the near future, we will be discontinuing our support for IE 11 browser from ServiceDesk Plus.

Workaround / Alternate solution for existing IE 11 users.

We recommend you to try other officially supported browsers ChromeFirefox, and Edge.

You can also implement IE mode in Edge, some of our customers have already started using it. Kindly refer to the link below for more details.
