Oputils and AD users

I trying to integrate OpUtils user management with Windows domain domain controller. But there is a strange error when I tried to add existing AD user into OpUtils user. I received error: User name cannot contain invalid characters. Our AD user names contains a dot as a separator. Why is dot "invalid character" in Oputils ?
