Hi to all,
We are seriously planning to use a NMS for our system. We have come up to two products. OpManager and Orion. Personally I prefer OpManager. But I have to persuade my superiors. These two products has same features.
I ask a solarwinds distributor in my country to compare these two products. The distributor asks solarwinds and they said about OpManager;
- Performance monitoring and traffic analysis are not well integrated, no single pane of glass
- Need a dashboard you can easily customize and share with management and others
- No top talker optimization. Wasted storage and computing cycles processing irrelevant data
- No community shared content in the products (templates, scripts, reports)
- Small, non-active community; SolarWinds has 30K+ very active members
- Frustrating tech support; minimal online forums and updated video tutorials
- No certification program where you can gain recognition as a network management expert
- Vendor size, resource depth, product investment is much smaller than SolarWinds
- Lacks advanced scheduled reporting capabilities
And also they said "Orion is no product to compare with such programs like OpManager!"
My personal idea is solarwinds orion is an old product. OpManager 8.3 is the new king. I have to find a comparison table between OpManager and Orion.
I want to use OpManager (NCM, Netflow, WAN RTT) and Oputils for IPAM. We have 300+ Cisco Switches, 15 Juniper Swithes, Juniper Router (Internet Router), Juniper SSG 20 for edges (150+), Checkpoint UTM edges (100+). We are the biggest airline company of our country. And we don't have an NMS. :( We will decide very soon after the demos (and price of course) from both sides. Waiting your opinions...
Thanks in advance.
