OpManager says interface is down, but interface is up
Hi,
Recently, my Opmanager reported that my router interface constantly 'went down' for a few minutes and then 'went back up' minutes later. However the interface is very much up and running. This has happened a few times within the span of a few hours.
It seemed like Opmanager was unable to ping the particular IP of the interface at certain intervals and reported it as 'down'. This was the first time in a very long time that Opmanager behaved this way and I have yet to find an explanation for this. (This is not a new connection, it is an existing connection that has been working fine up until this point).
I ended up putting a static route on the router to explicitly state where the server hosting Opmanager is located and things have been ok since.
Is there any reason for Opmanager to behave this way? My routers mention nothing in the logs about downtime and ping and trace route tests all prove to be working perfectly.
Since we are using this to monitor customer connections as well, I would appreciate your kind help in explaining to me why such a would occur.
