Hi - I upgraded my OpManager last night from 8721 to 8812 using the upgrade packs required per ManageEngine web site (files ending 8810 and 8_1_2). The upgrade took much longer than expected - the MSSQL backup took 58 minutes and the database reorganization done by package 8_1_2 took more than 45 minutes). I was monitoring both the application and SQL server using Task Manager during the upgrade and didn't see any resource constraints. My MSSQL database is 82G, which seems quite big and I suspect that is the issue. I checked the OpManager database retention settings and they are close to the defaults provided in the OpManager documentation:
Maintain 10000 recent alarms
Performance Database
OpManager monitors 44 servers, 109 routers, 69 switches and 9 other devices for a total of 231.
I checked the fill factor on my MSSQL 2005 database and it is set to 0, which is the Microsoft default.
My question is whether an OpManager MSSQL 2005 db monitoring 231 devices with the retention setting above should be this large and if not, what can you suggest. Thank you.
