OpManager eval - questions and problems...
Sorry this is so long-winded, but its easier than posting 20 different questions.
Anyway. Were evaluating OpManager (as well as NetFlow and Event Log Analyzer) and have run in to some problems/questions. Ive poked around, read the forums and resolved quite a few, but still have some left. If anyone can offer any advice/tips/comments, Id appreciate!
1) Is it possible to rename the network subnets listed under the Network Views? This is not terribly important, but it would be nice to be able to refer to a location by its name, not its subnet. I understand that soon OpMgr will have the Google Earth view which would minimize this request even more anyway. (How soon do you think before the Google Maps view functionality is released?)
2) Were having problems getting the CPU/Mem/Disk gauges to appear consistently, specifically with Windows servers. Ive checked the Device Type, set the Password and associated the WMI Resource monitors, but its not working with all servers (on some, it does). Not sure where to trouble shoot this next.
3) Theres no Cisco 1800 Router Device Type. We have a ton of 1841s out there.
4) The CPU/Mem guages for routers isnt showing up at all. But, on the Home view, Routers with High Memory Utilization are listed (but no Routers with High CPU Utilization). I suspect this has to do with the missing Device Type in #4?
5) Is it possible in the Routers Infrastructure View to have it *not* display a routers *unmanaged* interfaces? If were not managing them, no point in having them on the screen.
6) On any of the down time reports, is it possible to see the actual down time detail (eg I need to be able to drill down to and report on exactly when a device/service was down day, date, time, duration.) It would also be fantastic to be able to note a comment (free form or customizable pull down) as to the cuase of the down timewith all that wrapped up in a report.
7) Also in Reports, is it possible to export the report to a spreadsheet (in addition to a PDF file)?
8) Its been mentioned in other posts, but in the quick config wizard, it would be nice to be able to specify multiple monitors at a time and set the Device Type.
9) Also mentioned in other posts, its important for us to set time of day and severity level notifications. (e.g. its 2am if a device goes down, text my phone; but if its just low on disk space, send an automated email to the helpdesk and well deal with it in the morning!)
10) It would be nice to be able to choose between Large, Small and Details in all of the Infrastructure (and Business) views, not just Servers and Routers.
11) Monitoring printers via snmpI think Im a little off the ranch herewe use external Intel (old) and Lantronix print servers. Ive configured both for SNMP
a. I cant figure out how (or where) to get info from them. (Other than that they're up)
b. What Device Type would I choose for a printer on an external print server?
c. When playing around with the MIB browser, I need to load a custom MIB for the Lantronix, but it doesnt seem to be organized or work the same as other MIBs.
d. The icons (online, offline, load paper, etc) one of those be a different color to indicate the printers status?
Thanks!!!
