opManager categorizes cisco switch as desktop

I'm new to opManager world (only have known it for a week). Yesterday I tried to add our switch 3com 7700 but had no luck in grabbing its performance. I already had a bunch of MIB (that other guy in this forum had claimed it to be 3com7700 but I have no idea how to use them.
Today I added another device - a cisco catalyst 2960 switch - but opManager categorized it as Desktop (Type: unknown). Is there a source that can lead me into how to use opManager? I'm trying to evaluate this product before we (my office) decided to spend some money on it. I mean, you don't buy something that you cannot use, do you?
Any help would be appreciated.
