Hi, I'm looking to change our current configuration for the notifications profiles, currently, most of our switches have the "Alert on 1 miss" setting, wich is a bit annoying, because this cause a lot of e-mail to come to us, we would like to change this setting to 2 polls, but the options are 1, 3 or 5. 1 seem to send mail whenever the device misses a ping, wich happens often (Adtran switches seem to "ignore" ping request if too buzy, and we dont know what is the switch threshold to say it is buzy, anyway this happens often and we get many mails for nothing, since the "adminitration module" doesnt answer, but the switch itself does its job. And we think that 3 misses is too long for us to get the flag that a switch is down, since it would mean that, polling every 5 mins, that the switch been down for 15-19 minutes before we know. So we tought that having an alarm when a switch misses 2 poll would be better, as it would filter most of the false alarms while having us know within 10-14 mins.

 

This seemed to us a good way, since we have so much false alarms that we dont even look if they are real anymore... Rendering the whole system useless.

 

However I ran into a problem, the "number of missed polls" in the notificaiton interface cant be set to 2, it is a dropdown list that offers only 1, 3 or 5. I thought of going directly into the Database to changes manualy to 2, however the field in witch the information is, uses "no, 1, 2 and 3" for values, thus prohibiting me from entering 2 as in 2 miss, since its coded with 2 for 3 miss, and 3 for 5 miss. I looked around to see if I could simply change the meaning of 2, so it would mean 2 miss, this may be hardcoded... Or configurable somewhere that I didnt look, wich is possible since I dont have much time to check. And there is MANY places this settings could be, if it exists :)

 

So I put it in your hands, to either tell me where to change this settings, or that it cant be changed :)
