I've installed the free version of opmanager to test out the monitoring of our WAN Sites. Here are a few things I found so far after a week or two of playing with it.
Adding monitors is painful - I want to enable the following traffic monitors - Rx and Tx errors, discards, traffic and utilization. Adding each monitor in individually is kind of painful. Why can't I check all 8 monitors and say apply to either a specific device, or add it to all devices of a specific type.
Port changes - In order to ignore ports that are administratively down (or unplugged), I have to unmanage the ports. Thats not really helpful when I would like to be able to tell if a port has been brought online and monitor it automatically if it was a legit device...or bring it offline if it was not supposed to be on)
Losing config - This is a strange one. After losing our network connection on the opmanager server (for a reboot of the core), I now have 3 WAN routers in which all the traffic monitors are missing for some reason. The routers were all showing no response for 3 polls (although packet loss was at 0, but so was the device response time) until I went in and completed an update status. At that point the device response time started showing up and the device then appeared online again, but all my traffic monitors are gone.
I now need to go back into the quick config and re-add the 8 monitors so all 3 devices will then get their monitors back...
Home page configuration - I'd like to be able to customize the front page so I could show a report like the All devices availability report.
