New DC user - 10 suggestions for improving the UI/UX

New DC user - 10 suggestions for improving the UI/UX

I'm not sure if this is the right place for these suggestions, but here we go anyway.

I'm a new DC user, coming from uVNC + PDQ to manage my deployments and remote access and here's what the past week has shown me:

1. On inventory screen, when click search, cursor focus should jump to the first search field.
Currently the workflow requires the mouse to go back and forth across the page, pretty cumbersome on a wide monitor.

2. Option to select default deployment policy
My custom deploy policy shows at the bottom of the list. I want to use this 90% of the time.

3. Option to change order of deployment policy list.
Having to scroll through the list of policies to get to the last one adds clicks and scrolls I could do without.

4. Option for deployment target definition to default to domain and computer
I manage a single domain, one of my most common workflows is deploying software packages to workstations. Having to select the only domain available, then add a filter, then select Computer, then enter the computer is too many steps. I currently do this via Inventory --> Computers to make this shorter.

5. Add Deploy package option to the Inventory screen.
As the above suggestion, it's too cumbersome to deploy a package. The inventory screen has a context menu with, Asset scan, Patch scan, Remote control, etc. Add 'Deploy package' to this menu.

6. A way to simulate user notifications to see what they look like and how the user can interact with them.
A huge part of my job is to train our staff to be confident in what they are doing on their workstation. During training, being able to say "this is the EXACT notification you will see and this is EXACTLY what is does" is of paramount importance. Trying to build training material for what my staff will see during patch deployment has been painful and I'm not confident I've captured 100% of it.

7. Give the user the ability to hide/acknowledge notifications that don't require interaction.
There is no option for this. Remember, users aren't always IT people, some of my staff think their computer will explode if they click the wrong button, or if keep working with a notification on their screen.

8.The X in the top left of user notifications does nothing.
The notifications that can be set for users to see have an X in the top left corner that doesn't do anything.

9. More slim-lined user notification. Currently they are fat and clunky looking with too many words and look like something from AVG circa 2009.
My staff don't care for a big title saying "ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus 10" and then another product stamp down the bottom saying "ManageEngine Desktop Central". They want to know these notifications come from their legitimate IT Team. These notifications also have a lot of wasted whitespace.

10. Configurations need a re-run button.
Testing package deployments requires me to deploy the same config a number of times. Having to re-create these is cumbersome. A re-run action would be useful

Otherwise, I'm loving the visibility DC has given me on our workstation environment and the tech support has been excellent. Really looking forward to broadening DC's role in our environment.

Thanks,
ITGuy
