network scan using domain account ?
I have got the domain scan to work and can select specific OUs within our AD to scan and use a domain account with appropriate rights to scan a block of PCs.
On occassion I need to scan specific PCs by workstation name or IP address. The domain scan does not offer me this focused granularity, but I can select indivdiual IPs using the network scan - HOWEVER - I can only get this to work if I use a logon account that is local to the workstation (i.e. the Local administrative account). This is fine providing i know the local admin account password, however as we have acquired companies and desktop kit, we do not always have this information.
I have tried doing a network scan using the same domain account credentials to access a specifi device (by IP) that I use against the same device scanned as part of a domain scan selecting its OU, and these same credentials fail (DCOM error). I have also doublechecked that the domain account credntials I use are fine as I can use then to do a NET USE to the same device.
Does the network scan gui/interface allow you to supply a domain account to logon to a specific IP (workstation) ?
If so, what format does this need to be presented in, in the network scan 'login name' field.
Thanks
Matt
