Netflow Analyzer Traffic Volume problem
Dear Agerald,
Thank your support for us so long time. We still are at customer site. The customer challenge the product's
accuration. Because we do a testing with the customer. Our testing case information as follow:
1. ftp a large file - 10GB from sun solaris host: 10.166.1.1 to another solaris host: 10.166.4.4
we set up two IP group for the two IP monitor. After 30 minutes, we found the result as follow:
10.166.1.1 traffic out volume: 2209MB
10.166.4.4 traffic in volume: 2081MB
For the result, the customer challenge as follow:
(1) Why ftp file size is 10GB and the traffic volume is about 2GB?
(2) Why traffic in and traffic out volume is not the same?
Please help me explain the question and tell us netflow analyzer calculate traffic's method.
2. Please us how to define source IP and destination IP in netflow analyzer. For example:
The customer ftp command as follow:
In 10.167.3.66 ftp client
ftp 10.166.4.4
ftp> get oracle.rar(10GB)
and the netflow analyzer result as follow:
Source IP Destination IP
10.167.3.66 10.166.4.4
Please explain why 10.167.3.66 is defined as Source IP and 10.166.4.4 is defined as Destination IP.
3. The customer provide a serious problem for the accuration of the calculation of traffic volume. The customer require
us to have to provide a kind of testing method for the product's traffic calculation. Otherwise, they will think about
the other product(for example: GenieNTG product)
Please tell us how to test the accuration of the calculation of traffic volume and speed in netflow analyzer version 4011.
Thanks.
Best Regards,
Frank
