mysql hangs - slow performance

I am very impressed with your product so far. For the past few days, we have been having an issue with mysql. Every few hours, mysql hangs for a few minutes causing the web page to be inaccessible during this time.
We are running OpManager on dual Xeon 2.4 GHz CPUs that show up as four processors in task manager. During this period of slow behavior, mysqld-nt.exe peaks out at 25% of CPU, but network utilization is very low. It seems like mysql is not being load balanced properly across the CPUs.
After about 10 minutes of this behavior, mysql returns to normal levels of CPU usage. I tried unmanaging a lot of devices to no avail. We are currently monitoring a very small number of devices anyways. Can you please provide assistance?
