MySQL error in event manager, causing SD7 7001 to crash

I am having the same problem with ServiceDesk7 build 7001. Our system was crashing before on a Virtual Machine, then after speaking with support, we migrated to a dedicated machine. I know our system resources on our new server are more than sufficent.
Servicedesk is the only software running on the server. the server is Windows 2003 Server SP1. I get the MySQL.Time_Zone_Leap_Second warning in application log. The time and date stamp is congruent to when the servicedesk is running slow or crashing all together, plus the CPU spikes from 1 or 2 mhz to all 3.0GHz.
I have scheduled backups on, and all backups are successful. The time of the backups is not the same time as when the system crashes.
