Multiple Support Groups and Office 365

Multiple Support Groups and Office 365

We want to use multiple support group email addresses via an Office 365 tenancy but this can't be done without actually using a local SMTP mail relay server which is annoying.

There are three ways of sending email to Office 365 - Full authentication, direct send or use a mail relay. https://support.office.com/en-gb/article/How-to-set-up-a-multifunction-device-or-application-to-send-email-using-Office-365-69f58e99-c550-4274-ad18-c805d654b4c4

We are stuck with one of two problems.

If we configure both support email addresses onto one 365 mailbox then ServiceDesk will not correctly identify which email address the email has been sent to.

If we use the method recommended elsewhere on these forums (have two separate mail boxes, one forwarding to the other) then if we use the option 1 (Authentication) to send to 365 then it fails as 365 (understandably) rejects the forwarded email as not coming from the account it claims it is. Option 2 cannot be used as it limits sending to only within the 365 tenancy and we need to email outside of it.

The only remaining option is to create a mail relay server to forward emails onto 365. This seems over kill for a single requirement.

Ideally we need ServiceDesk to be able to maintain sending credentials for each Support Group or to be able to correctly identify emails to a mailbox with multiple email address aliases.

Or is there an alternative that I'm not seeing ?

Thanks
David
