MSP Device Scan versus MS Intune Integration

MSP Device Scan versus MS Intune Integration

Hello,

I would like to get a better understanding as to exactly what would be the advantage of turning on the Intune integration with Network Probe scanning already running. One concern of mine is that I don't want find out that turning on MS Intune Integration than starts to override all existing Probe discovered asset entries or some manually entered/updated data for these Probe discovered and scanned assets.

If it helps, let me present the follow scenario.

  1. I currently have an asset (workstation-01) which was discovered by a network probe scan and added to the asset database. Additional assets fields were manually updated. This asset also continues to be periodically scanned by the probe, and the asset entry is uploaded.

  1. Now, let's say separately "workstation-01" is currently being managed by Intune, and we decided to turn on Intune integration.

  1. What will happen or what changes will be observed with the existing (workstation-01) asset within the asset database that was initially discovered via the network probe scan?

  1. If changes are made to the asset due to a Network scan, what happens to the Intune device record? Are those changes also updated there? Or is it more so a one-way integration?

  1. If changes are made to the device record in Intune, what happens to the MSP Asset to record? Are those changes also updated there?

Hopefully this makes more sense. Again, I am just trying to make sure that I have an understanding of what will happen to hundreds of already scanned assets if the Intune integration is activated.

Thanks,
Nkwenten
