We need to move the SQL Database off of the current SQL Host as the host is being decommissioned.

We have a new host and new installation of SQL Server - now we need to move the passwordManager database onto this new server.

In order to prepare for this task we have downloaded the trial version to test the migration process against.

these are the steps we have tried - when a step fail we reinstall the trial version and start again.

1 - install trial version with defailt PostGres database

2 - use MigrateDB.BAT to move database to SQL Server.

3 - Use changeDB.BAT to move SQL database to new SQL Server

dialog says it is successful but when we start the windows service it fails - looking at the log files state that the service encountered an error and shut down!

then we've tried the following:

redo 1 & 2

3 - Use MigrateDB.BAT again to move SQL database to new SQL Server

again that didn't work.

then we tried editing the conf file directly and that didn't work.

please can someone help with where we are going wrong?

what are the steps to follow when moving the database from one sql server to another?
