Move some requests and associated contacts to new server

We use SC+ for two products and have all requests assigned to one Group or another. I want to move all requests from one group, along with the associated contacts, support reps, attachments etc to a new server.
Would it be best to duplicate the system then delete what's not required? Or is there an export / import method that would be simpler?
