i firmly believe the selfservice portal could use some love. Firstly it could use "categories" instead of one endless long list of software. sometimes users dont know exactly what they are looking for, and having software in category's like "audio programs, drawing programs, office programs, print programs" etc. could help them narrow their search.
Secondly, we have enabled "auto updates" of packages in the appstore. this seemed a nice feature in the beginning, but now i have to clean out a lot of old versions from the appstore. maybe build in a limit to keep only the last 3 automaticly updated packages?
This cleaning gets even more frustrating because i first have to disassociate packages. i can't just directly delete them from the packages page.. and disassociating a package takes an avarage of 8 seconds on our system, with having over 200 packages to sort out.. well this quickly becomes a tiresome job.
that said, i like Desktop Central very much! It made our lives a whole lot easier with this pandemic. it just needs some polishments?
And while at it.. maybe the design could use some polishing too. I spend a lot of my day inside the DC interface, and it looks a bit outdated. You know, the eye wants some candy too ;-) Same goes for the selfservice app on the workstations. its slow, it doesnt resize, its.. yugh..
