Monitoring Overheads
I was just wondering what is the overheads of using opManager to monitor switches and servers?
Someone told me that to monitor the amount of traffic over a port on a switch it almost doubles the amount of traffic required. is that true? or does it just get a reading of the amount of traffic that is crossing the port at that time?
Also what strain would be placed on the systems if i was to increase the monitoring from 15 minutes to say 5, would this give me a more accurate reading of the amount of traffic that flows across the port?
Is the monitoring interval an average for the last 15 minutes? or is it the amount of traffic at that moment when it is monitored?
